This class consists of 20-30 minutes discussing a topic for the day, then the rest of the time students may chose to work on their own projects or a project focused on the days topic. Students learn to use the elements and principles of art and various compositional rules and techniques to create full, functional, and stylish artwork. Students may choose which medium to use as well as the subjects of their pieces. The instructor, Brittney Brown, works mainly in the drawing mediums, however, students may choose to paint. Adaptive Art is a field that focuses primarily on the students' access to art making despite personal challenges. Art can foster self expression build self-esteem, group participation, self-control and individuality. Students learn to explore a variety of different art materials and styles and are encouraged to trust their own decision-making skills through the guidance of a professional artist.
