Winter Semester (January-Mid March) This class is recommended for ages 10+ who have a basic knowledge of drawing and anime. Digital Art Supplies REQUIRED. iPad with Apple Pencil preferred. Class is taught using the program Procreate for Apple iPad, which is strongly recommended. (Not the "Pocket" version) Other programs may suffice, but we cannot promise a 1:1 comparison of lessons for any other programs used. Experience in procreate preferred but not required. We will study what makes a cartoon "anime," different methods, techniques, and all the formal elements you need to create your own anime art and characters. In this class your child will refine their fine motor skills as they learn to draw, paint, and sculpt, while also learning a little art history. Students produce a variety of projects with various mediums and subjects in order to learn different techniques and skills in creating art. Winter Semester (January-Mid March) "Expressive Impressionism" takes the core techniques of Impressionism but adds a stronger emphasis on conveying emotion and personal interpretation through more dynamic brushwork, and exaggerated color. This course explores Impressionist themes, techniques, and various impressionistic artists. Students choose their own subjects and mediums while implementing the lessons learned in class. The instructor is an expert in chalk pastel, oil, acrylic, or watercolor. Supplies are available for use but it is encouraged for students to bring their own in order to continue working in their own studio between classes. We can provide a recommended supply list for the medium of choice if needed. Various techniques will be demonstrated to help guide students to their project goals. Students may choose to follow along step by step or work more independently, getting guidance as needed. Either way is welcome. Spaces are limited, so sign up today!

Perspective can make or break an art piece! Come learn some tips and tricks on creating perspective with Art House artist and instructor Brittney Brown. This workshop runs for 3 weeks from 10am-12pm on Wednesdays starting January 15. Each week we will focus on a different kind of perspective starting with one point, then two point, and finish with multiple perspectives in one drawing. We will be working in graphite pencil which is the easiest medium to practice and learn perspective, though once you learn how you can apply your new understanding of perspective to any art piece and medium!
