Winter Semester (January-Mid March) This is for kids and teens that want to learn perspective, shading, and other foundational skills in drawing. Students learn drawing techniques that will make their pictures look 3-dimensional, a foundation for strong drawing skills. This is a basic drawing class meant for beginners, though anyone wanting to strengthen their drawing skills would benefit from this class. Class is taught using the program Procreate for Apple iPad, which is strongly recommended. (Not the "Pocket" version) Other programs may suffice, but we cannot promise a 1:1 comparison of lessons for any other programs used. Experience in procreate preferred but not required. This class is a fusion of traditional art projects and social team-building games; we will be learning how to draw and sketch quickly as we act out characters in a narrative, while also creating maps, portraits, and inventory sheets to fully design and flesh out a character of our own. This class will help you learn how to build worlds, create characters, and work with others on a personal and group basis. This class begins with learning the facial features of the face, proportion, and how to layer colors to create skin tones. Through the guidance of the instructor students are encouraged to develop their own style and ideas while learning the elements and principles of design as well as exploring the painting techniques and lessons specific to oils. Winter Semester (January-Mid March) Designed for adults that require some adaptive conditions to create their art. Ages 18 and older, for those with special needs but are higher functioning. Adaptive Art is a field that focuses primarily on the students' access to art making despite personal challenges. Art can foster self expression build self-esteem, group participation, self-control and individuality. Students learn to explore a variety of different art materials and styles and are encouraged to trust their own decision-making skills through the guidance of a professional artist.
