Join us for this 5 day camp in our new Rebel Ceramics studio. Teen campers will be doing a combination of hand-building and pottery wheel projects, learning all about the clay body itself, the full ceramic process, different techniques, and glazing. Get those hands dirty, and doing a deep dive into problem solving skills. Each week will offer different guided projects as well as some space for self-discovery. This camp is perfect for beginners, as well as returning students/campers to continue building on their knowledge and experience with ceramics. Please note that due to the nature of ceramics and the firing process, campers artworks will not be ready to take home on the last day, but will need to be picked up at a later date. Much like our teen school year classes we will offer the flexibility of having planned projects for those who don't necessarily have a clear idea on what to create, as well as more of an open studio for those who are ready dive into all those projects in their heads (with the guidance of our teachers). We offer everything from drawing, painting, collage, mixed media, printmaking to sculpture. Please note that due to time constraints we do not offer ceramics during summer camps (please check out our ceramics program if interested in ceramics). We break up the week by hosting camp in different locations. Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays are hosted at the studio on South Main st., Tuesdays we meet at Civic Park (1375 Civic Dr, Walnut Creek), and Thursdays we meet at Heather Farms (301 N San Carlos Dr, Walnut Creek,). This unique opportunity is only offered during summer camps, and is incredibly special as it allows campers to experience working in plein air (from life outside) as well as in the studio for a complete art experience. Discover Fun, Leadership, and New Skills at GrowFit Camp! At GrowFit Camp, kids aged 4-12 dive into a world of sports and games, discovering new athletic passions in a fun, supportive environment. For teens aged 13-16, our Counselors-In-Training (CIT) program offers the ultimate mix of leadership training, community service opportunities, and exciting gameplay with younger campers—all while boosting résumés with valuable experience! CITs work alongside camp counselors under the guidance of a trained coach, learning leadership skills and playing a variety of sports and games. The program is $30/day with limited spots available each week, requiring a full-session commitment. What to Bring: Water Bottle: Stay hydrated! Refill stations are available on-site. Shoes & Clothing: Comfortable athletic shoes and black athletic shorts or pants are required. Each CIT will receive a camp shirt to wear for the week. Lunch: Please pack a hearty lunch and a couple of snacks, as our CITs are active during the day. This 8 class session focuses on learning about clay as a medium: the transitions from greenware, to bone dry, bisque ware, and ceramic. Students will not only learn different hand-building techniques such as coiling, pinch pots, slab work, carving, and sculptural embellishments, but also how to glaze with both underglazes and medium fire glazes. Artist's who have taken this course with us will be able to continue building on their skills and knowledge. The class is 1 hour once per week for 8 weeks. The registration fee includes use of tools and supplies. Please note that we are unable to offer make-up classes, nor a pro-rate for future missed classes.

New Teen students will complete three pre-designed projects with their teacher's guidance to help aid them in learning how to set-up/clean-up supplies and materials, get a feel for what mediums are available, and allow teachers to get a feel for the student's level of skill and art knowledge before diving into more independent study. With our small class sizes, students have maximum individual attention within a classroom setting. Students will improve technical ability, problem-solving skills, and compositional understanding, as well as learn how to develop their own original projects with the guidance of their teachers. Students can choose the mediums they wish to explore and further develop a richer understanding. Available mediums include and are not limited to acrylic, watercolor, charcoal, pastel, ink, ceramics, mixed media, printmaking, and silkscreen.
