In this class, we will explore a genre of music from a different place and era every two weeks (such as reggae, rock n’ roll, soul, funk, disco, pop, jazz, classical)! Children will hear samples of this music, learn about its typical instrumentation, learn to sing a song from this genre, and learn dance moves…which we will then try out as a group! We will also learn about key artists from each genre, and listen to and discuss one of their pieces. In addition, children will also be introduced to basic concepts of music theory, such as rhythm, tempo, dynamics, and timbre. Activities such as clapping out/playing basic rhythms by reading notes, identifying dynamics within a piece of music (piano- soft, forte- loud), learning and singing solfege, and identifying musical instruments within pieces will be regular parts of this class! Main Class Components: -basic theory concepts (rhythm, tempo, pitch, dynamics, timbre) -Introduction to many different genres of music -learning and performing classic dances/dance moves -learning and singing songs as a group This is a class children will work on developing and Strengthening the following: -Fine and Gross motor skills, Speech and language skills, Cognitive development -Creative thinking, Problem solving, Team work, -Concentration, Listening Skills, Impulse Control -Ensemble Singing, Matching Temp, Rhythm and Pitch 15 MINUTE EXPLORATION TIMES: We are eager to build community together as we open our JAMaROO Kids Club! Scrimmages of 2v2 and 3v3 progress over the season to emphasize the rules of soccer and prepare kids to join a soccer team. This class is a NON-PARENT PARTICIPATION class. Journey with us into a world of deliciously magical royal bake shops, where the fanciest cakes in The Rabbit Hole Queendom are made! Our campers will get to work in teams to imagine their own unique confections. There will be dancing, dressing up, cake crafting, cookie decorating, performing and of course lots of royal magic! Join us on Friday at 3pm for a final showcase! Drop off is from 9am - 9:30 and pick up is anytime between 2:30 - 3:00pm. Refund Policy: Please note that we have a no refund policy. Full credits will be issued for anything with a 4 week notice and can be used for any future Rabbit Hole activity. After 4 weeks we are unable to credit. If your child is sick or you need to miss a day of camp we will have a camp bag ready for you at the studio. This bag will be filled with enchanted projects, art materials, audio and video links and anything your kiddo might be missing in class. There may be challenges, but Superhero Kittens always land on their feet! In class, children go on a yoga adventure using their imaginations and the art of storytelling to help navigate through yoga poses. Our destinations include hiking in the Mountains, diving in the Great Barrier Reef, going on a Safari in Africa, or sledding in the North Pole. On our journey, we play yoga games, sing yoga songs, and practice breathing techniques. Our goal is to give young children a developmentally appropriate way to explore yoga poses, mindfulness and social emotional learning. Farm Camp is run from our 1-acre school farm in the Mission Terrace neighborhood. We provide an opportunity for children to connect with nature while directly participating in the daily rhythms of farm life. Our day camp is designed to inspire a connection with and love of the natural world, and also a chance to get hands dirty in fun and educational ways. Activities include animal care for our chickens, weeding, watering, mulching, harvesting, compost care, crafts and free play. Children should bring snacks and lunch and come prepared to get dirty!
