Nicholas's Music Lessons (Guitar)
by Taylor Robinson Music
San Antonio, TX
Years of Experience: 7 Location Options: In Home, In Webcam Travel Radius: 50 Genres: Rock, Acoustic Age Groups: Children, Young Adult, Adult Instruments Taught: Guitar Lessons Overview: Hello, my name is Nicholas, I am a former heavy metal vocalist for a group that I performed I wrote music with from 2006-2013. However, the first time I picked up a guitar was in 2004. I took lessons with a former high school teacher, I incorporated those teachings into the writing process of our group. I also have more experience in the music industry; such as stagehanding, maintaining sound quality during live performances, as well as experience working in a recording studio. Formal Education: I have some formal education in reading sheet music as well as notes for different instruments during my time in the music program in my high school as well as some in college. I also learned scales and the basic notes on guitar from my instructor in my personal lessons. Performing Experience: Although I joined a group in 2006, we didn't start performing live on stage until about 2008. We performed in different venues across the state of Texas for the next 5 years. Since the group ended I still perform solo shows, playing the guitar as well as performing lead vocals. I am still active in the community always looking for more opportunities to perform. Experience Teaching: As far as my experience in teaching goes, I feel I became more attuned with playing guitar in about 2009. I started first teaching my siblings as well as many of my younger relatives. I also have taught many people from the ages of 16-25. I continue to teach some of my fellow peers, I enjoy to constantly learn new things as I teach people what I know as well as discovering more techniques in playing guitar. -Reviews- Name: Cassie L Date: 2017-05-10 19:53:11 Title: Absolutely worth my time! Body: I have known Nicholas for about 7 years now, and I have to say that his influence has been crucial to both my guitar playing and stage performance. I have personally had 30+ guitar lessons with Nicholas and have been to many of his live performances over the years and would absolutely consider him as a mentor in my 5 years of performing. Nicholas has helped me to build setlists that compliment both my guitar and vocals stylings and even assisted on stage during my first live performance at a local music venue. I would say that Nicholas is a very laid-back and well-rounded musician who has always been a reliable source for honest feedback and motivation. Thanks, Nick!

Originally I am from Hattiesburg, MS, but am currently completing my degree in Music Education at UTSA. I have been a student of music for 11 years and have been heavily influenced by great performers such as Bryn Terfel, Amit Peled, Isata Kanneh-Mason, and Jessye Norman. I primarily teach voice, but I also teach intermediate piano and cello as well. My teaching philosophy can best be described as fluid. As a teacher, I strive to create the best possible learning environment for students by adapting to their individual desires and needs as musicians. I like to tell my students that many concepts in music are difficult but none of them are impossible, with guidance, time, and determination much can be mastered or at the very least, improved. My favorite thing about teaching is working with students who have a genuine passion for music. I have been teaching music both privately and in the classroom for 15 years. I’ve had the pleasure of teaching absolute beginners who have never sung or played before, as well as advanced musicians with years of experience. I firmly believe that music is for everyone, and with the right tools and guidance, anyone can learn how to unlock their unique musical potential. There is an unfortunate and common misconception that only those with natural abilities can succeed in music – this is simply not true. In my experience, it’s the dedicated students who practice consistently that make the most progress. My specialty areas include voice, choir, beginner-intermediate piano, music theory, musical theatre, and K-12 general music. I have been performing for 24 years. My performance experience includes musical theatre, opera, choir, pop, rock, and jazz ensembles. I love performing and teaching across various styles, techniques, and genres. The voice is an amazing instrument capable of creating so many different tones and textures, and I enjoy teaching my students how to fully explore their voices! I customize my curriculum and approach to each student's unique needs and goals. Everyone is different, and I want to ensure that my students always get the most out of their lessons. I believe that providing students with a strong musical foundation has a profound impact on their lives and education. My goal is to inspire my students, while giving them a safe and supportive space to explore their creativity and express their artistry. I enjoy seeing my students blossom to their full potential, as well as being a part of their journey. Analina's Music Lessons (Drum)
by Taylor Robinson Music
San Antonio, TX
Years of Experience: 2 Location Options: In Studio, In Home Travel Radius: 10 Age Groups: Children, Young Adult, Adult, Under 6 Years Instruments Taught: Drum Lessons Overview: I started playing the drums when my grandfather taught me at the age of five. I haven't stopped since. My first experiences as a gigging musician occurred when I joined Take Note Youth Band at the age of 15. Because of that band, I was able to be introduced to the San Antonio music scene very early and joined a band at the age of 17. This band, Creciendo Fuerte, was an all Latin band and won first place for the 2015 San Antonio Music Awards for best Alt-Latino Band and third in Best New Band. Since the member of that band went their separate ways, I joined two new cover bands. One called The Chizme variety cover/party band, and Out of the Cellar a RATT tribute band. With these two bands under my belt I have been gigging almost every weekend, getting paid as a professional musician each time. I am a sophomore at St. Mary's University on my way to receive my degree in music education. I can honestly say I practice for at least 90 minutes a day and playing the drums is my one true love in this world. I love to work with kids and pass on the gift of music to the younger generation. It's important to me to keep that passion alive.

I have been a student of music for ten years. My musical influences include Pink Floyd, Ghost, System of a Down, Bach, Chopin, Trivium, The Cult, Audioslave, Soundgarden, and Stevie Ray Vaughn. I also enjoy Jazz. My teaching style can best be described as interactive. My teaching philosophy can best be described by saying that I engage with my students, learn about their experiences not only as a musician, but also as a person, and incorporate those into the lesson for a more personal and enjoyable experience. In my lessons, you can expect to learn everything you wanted to learn, and more. I like to tell my students don't let the last note you played/hit influence the next, the past cannot dictate the future. My favorite thing about teaching is the "ahh" moment when my students finally understand and find the answer to the question that's been on their minds. My favorite performance of another musician was Serj Tankian with the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra. My students love that I understand and engage in their personal lives, because music comes from the soul. I primarily teach bass, guitar, music theory, and vocals, but I can also teach keys. My approach as a teacher is to not show my students how to play the songs, but to teach them the techniques and let them add their own flourish to the pieces. Thanks for taking a look at my profile. Hope to meet you soon! Private Education: I attended School of Rock San Antonio for two years. Performing Experience: I have performed at numerous events and venues, including, but not limited to: River City Rockfest 2017 (Opening for Def Leppard), Summerfest 2017 (Opening for Willie Nelson/Bob Dylan), Aztec Theatre twice in 2017 (Headline), Rock Box 2, Fitzgeralds Bar 2.
