1/2 Day AM 1/2 Day PM Travel back in time and step into mythical worlds with our "Dinos and Dragons" camp! Beginner art is a 1 hour class. We work on pieces of art that can last over a number of weeks! In our upcoming art class, we will be creating pieces inspired by the vibrant and expressive abstract works of Alma Thomas, a pioneering African-American artist celebrated for her unique style and impactful legacy. We'll explore Thomas’s signature use of joyful, mosaic-like patterns and bright, precise brushstrokes, which she derived from her appreciation of nature and the cosmos. Our project will involve each student choosing a natural or celestial theme as their muse and reinterpreting it in Thomas's distinctive style, using bold colors and dynamic compositions. This exercise promises to be not only a creative exploration but also a meaningful homage to one of the first African-American women to receive a solo exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art.

This class is open for Home School students. This is a 1.5 hour class.

They'll learn to shape, texture, and color their sculptures to look like real chocolates. By Friday, all participants will box their finished, lifelike chocolate sculptures to take home. Students will work on a collaborative, heart-themed mural inspired by the contemporary British artist James Goldcrown. Perfect for this month of love. Students will work on individual canvases that will be collaborated into a united mural that will be displayed at the shop and later dismantled for each to take a piece home. This weekly 2-hour class is a great option for kids looking to move ahead with their artistic talents. The students are given more independence and freedom to be creative with the projects. Projects often run for 3-4 weeks to give students the extra time to create a really impressive piece. Dress for a mess! We often work with acrylic paints and oil pastels, which can be very difficult to remove from clothing.
