Benjamin's Music Lessons (Guitar, Bass Guitar, Orchestral, Piano, Song Writing)

    by Taylor Robinson Music

    Dallas, TX

Years of Experience: I have been a performing Location Options: In Studio, In Webcam Travel Radius: 0 Genres: Rock, Blues, Jazz, Classical, Country, Acoustic, Christian, RB, Gospel, Pop, Folk Age Groups: Children, Young Adult, Adult Instruments Taught: Guitar Lessons,Bass Guitar Lessons,Keyboard and Piano Lessons,Song Writing Lessons,Orchestral Lessons Overview: Hi, my name is Benjamin and I have been a performing musician in all styles in the DFW since 2001 and have taught professionally in the area since 2015. My primary instrument is the electric bass guitar but most of my students up to this point have actually been for acoustic, classical and electric guitar. I also play and teach drums and percussion, piano, and can teach ear training, music theory and songwriting/composition. I also compose music in a variety of styles for multiple instruments. I have an Associates degree in the Arts from the Dallas County Community College district, studied jazz and classical performance at UTA, and earned a Bachelor's degree in Art and Performance from UTD. My focus as a teacher is to identify the specific personal goals of each student and tailor their lesson accordingly. While I believe this is the best place to begin, in order to ferment growth as a musician I will gradually work to expand my students' goals beyond their original intent. Assuming the student shows promise and, more importantly, motivation and willingness to put in the work, the intent is to bring the student to levels of success even greater than their original goals. As a music educator I strive to maintain a balance between teaching music as a science and as an art. I will stress the importance of having at least a basic understanding of reading music, music theory and ear training, but only as a part of a greater whole. I believe that emotional impact, on the performer, and from the performer to the audience, is the most important aspect of music by far. Formal Education: Graduated high school in 3 years at age 16 from Bryan Adams high school. Associates degree awarded from DCCCD in Music. Studied jazz and classical performance at UTA, Bachelor's Degree awarded in Arts and Performance from UTD Performing Experience: I have performed throughout the DFW area since 2001 Experience Teaching: I spent most of my college years tutoring music theory informally. Alan's music background and his musical knowledge has far surpassed most keyboard players that I have known. He is a highly respected musician and friend among many musicians in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. His knowledge of chord structures, music theory, and composition has been most beneficial. He does well with keyboard technic and adapts well under pressure. Always on time and is always prepared. Alan is dependable, responsible, and committed to the project at hand. He is an excellent instructor. Name: Kristine Kwiat Date: 2015-12-26 15:21:10 Title: Alan is your go-to guy for theory and improvisation techniques Body: In my 28 years of knowing Alan, I can tell you that he is not only a great teacher but he "walks the walk" by continually honing his own knowledge and skills through independent study. This allows him to continually evolve as a gifted instructor and performer. He is in constant demand as a musician due to his chameleon-like ability to adapt to any music genre and fit in seamlessly into a variety of bands, often at the last minute. Any budding musician looking to learn an instrument or long-time player seeking to expand their performance or improvisational skills will be a better player with Alan's guidance.
