Music as Medicine. A creative, intuitive, and fun approach to therapy.
|
I have experience in America working as a behavioural therapist with children diagnosed with Autism (among other disorders). My job was to work with children individually and create a program that is specific to their interests and needs. We used tested and structured psychological methods to shape and teach appropriate behaviour, as well as teaching important skills such as reading, writing, and speaking (or sign language for non-verbals). Our goal was to create a safe space for children to learn and grow, eventually to be able to become self reliant and a functional member of a typical school classroom. I have a passion for music and I love to bring this passion to work, I find many children respond well to music as a motivator. Having graduated in America with a bachelor in psychology, I am currently studying in Wellington for my Masters of Music Therapy. I have a passion for helping others, I am fun, outgoing and intuitive. Im looking forward to working with you and your family.
