Hello! My name is Kat and I'm an ungulate keeper at Auckland Zoo. My day-to-day duties include monitoring animal behaviour, preparing food and feeding animals, cleaning enclosures and enriching our animals. In the past, I have had the privilege to work with primates, ectotherms, birds and carnivores. I also have experience with animal training and have a BSc in Animal Behaviour and a certificate in Captive Wild Animal Management. Aside from the exotic animals at work, I've also grown up around domestic animals. I lived on a farm in Tauranga for ten years and have worked with cattle, horses, working dogs and chickens. I have my fur baby at home! His name is Trixie, a 4-year-old domestic short hair who eats everything in sight. When I'm not at work I can be found at the gym or the dance studio exercising and hanging out with my friends. If you need someone with experience to look after your fur babies then I'm the girl for the job! I'm eager to grow my training portfolio so if you have an animal that needs some training I'd be keen to help out! Or if you need a house sitter for a weekend who will ensure your animals are safe and sound, I can do that as well.
