I’ve volunteered at retirement homes since I was young as my mom has been a clinical nurse manager for retirement homes my entire life, Over the summer I worked as a casual Elderly support worker at Tainui Resthome I learned how to support encourage and care for elderly people with different disabilities including zero mobility, amputees and dementia as well as general support for patients that are mostly mobile. I assisted with shower, feedings and serving meals, assisting with some physio recommended exercises, and just hanging out with the residents,
