| I am a 27 year old American female currently living in Cork for school. I attend UCC and am working on a Masters of Human Osteoarchaeology. While I have never held a job in a pet environment, I feel that my personal experience speaks volumes. I have always had animals in my home, regardless if I lived with my family or on my own. I have been responsible for a chinchilla, hermit crab, dogs (puppies and senior dogs, small dogs-large dogs), cats (kittens to elderly cats, all shapes and sizes), tarantula, parakeets, and rabbits. Picking up dog poop, cleaning out litter boxes, cleaning out cages, and cleaning up messes does not phase me. Over the years, many of my animals have needed to take medications, so that is no bother as well. I am comfortable taking care of all animals in whatever way needed. The most experience i got in my apprenticeship in an animal shelter in Germany. I completed my apprenticeship in spring 2018 in the Animal Protection Center Ehrenkirchen, Germany. The Center comprisesan animal shelter with a big dog area, a cat and small animal station and areptile room. Besides that, there is a great animal sanctuary for horses,donkeys, sheep and other ungulates. In addition, there is a receiver station for wildlife animals. I had the chance to help a lot of animals, to become acquainted with them and take care of them. | My name is Sol. I am half Spanish, quarter Japanese, quarter Colombian, 20 years old and I came to Cork to study English. I study film and television in Bogotá, Colombia, and I want to start to study biology. I think is great combitation since I am and a nature photographer. I arrived in Ireland on September, to be a volunteer on an organic farm, there I took care of six cats, four dogs, and six chickens, in addition to tree maintenance and gardening, crop rotation, bio dynamic and permaculture methods and a raised bed stystem, and other tasks. Walking with a dog is letting it smell the nature, run (if possible), interact with other dogs, feel the wind… understanding their needs is a big step! I completely love animals.
