I am currently in my third year studying primary teaching at Maynooth University. As a result, I have completed schools placements in various schools around the country with children of all ages. These placements have taught me an abundance of things including the importance of play in education, classroom management skills and patience. I also worked in the Holy Angels day-care centre in Carlow. Here I spent time with children from 18 months to 6 years who all have special needs. This was a very eye-opening experience and has definitely changed how I will teach in future. I learned so many new strategies to help me understand the children in my future classes and how I can adapt my teaching to help them learn. I absolutely love working with children. In my college in Froebel, we focus on learning through play and making learning fun and accessible to children. We make the learning relevant to their own lives and I think this has shaped my view on education. I am Garda vetted and have my own car so can drive.
