Empathy, Understanding and Clear communication.
|
I have a wealth of experience working with young people who have social, emotional and mental health (S.E.M.H) in young people's residential homes and with private families.
I supported a family that had 5 children, the oldest of which was an autistic non-verbal boy. I’d support the family and activities in the community shopping/meal prep, school runs, homework and tutoring for all the children, a bit of admin work and going on outings during the holidays.
I worked as a Nanny for my brother's family who has two young children and adapted my experience working with S.E.M.H to support families with their children and routines.
I offer empathy, clarity and direction where needed. Empathy to understand. Clarity for feeling safe. And direction for expectations. These skills I offer help young people to get through difficult emotions and find solutions to the issues they face whether it be something minor or something a lot more significant.
With any relationship or agreement, there will be times when certain issues need to be revised and reworked or emotions will need to be expressed. Having a suitable format for doing these in a reflective manner is important in order to maintain a smooth working relationship.
