Young and energetic Support Worker
|
Hi! My name is Mathilde, I am a 21 year-old Support Worker and have worked in care for 2 years. I mainly support adults from ages 18-50 with mild to severe learning difficulties of all sorts.
I am familiar with cerebral palsy, dementia, epilepsy, brain lesions, autism, ADHD, schizophrenia, paranoia, BPD, anxiety, depression and more.
My own brother suffers from schizophrenic paranoia and my grandmother from dementia. Neither is aware of their own conditions so I have experience with working with people who aren't aware of their abilities and limitations and who suffer from addictions.
I like to promote independence and create a bond with the people I work with in order to make them more comfortable. When working with a disabled person, I value honesty and good communication. I can speak fluently French and English, know the basics in Makaton and am familiar with most communication apps. But most importantly, I enjoy bonding with others and making them feel as equals, especially when supporting other adults.
I enjoy drawing, learning new languages and writing stories. I like to stimulate others' imagination via stories, films or any other art form they might enjoy.
I am also an excellent cook :)
