For the past fifteen years, I have worked as a care professional for the local authority, care agencies and for private individuals.
During my employment, I have developed a broad set of skills and a knowledge base that helps me to understand vulnerable people and meet their needs, recently updated training on dementia and Alzheimer's. I also hold the new Care Certificate, and train other carers on it, so am certainly up to date with the latest in best practice. My experience has taught me to manage various medical and operational situations professionally and efficiently, using my knowledge and any available resources. I am also very focused on safety and risk, something that I actively manage and improve on constantly, in line with guidance my own experience of the service user and their situation.
I have a good sense of humour, great companion, and I am a good listener which helps me to communicate at all levels. I am confident and able to manage challenging or difficult behaviour, something my practice as a teacher has helped me hone. Most importantly, I have a helpful attitude, good team working skills and I am always prepared to give that extra effort, which always makes a difference. I have a readily available DBS.
