My role as carer began in 2016. Since then, I have worked in various care homes, hospitals, and as a live-in carer. I have good experience working with people with Alzheimer, learning disabilities, Parkinson’s disease, physical disabilities, and mental health illnesses, such as schizophrenia, depression, mania, bipolar affective disorder, anxiety state and phobias. People with physical health problems, such as diabetes, arthritis and visual impairment. I have used relevant health and social care legislations, policies and guidelines such as the mental capacity act, mental health act, equality and diversity, safeguarding and human right act. to guide my practice and decision making which helps me to protect service users’ rights over the care they require and receive.
In addition to this working within a multicultural organisation has allowed me to be more conscious of the impact of cultural diversity on health and social care. As a carer.
