Elderly Care in Barrow-In-Furness

| I have worked in elderly care from a personal level for round 10 yrs and as a professional level for 5yrs I have experience in personnel care, toiletting, catheter care. Peg feed care. I am familiar with the use of hosts and slings moving and handling and powered chairs. I am also happy to provide housekeeping and pet care if needed.

| I believe I really exist when I have a positive impact on someone else's life. I want to have a significant influence on elderly people because making a positive difference in people's lives is my passion. My desire to help people led me to volunteer for three years as a child care worker during my time in college. I also volunteered after school to help underprivileged teenagers in a rural community in Ghana. I was able to give advice and help some of the adolescents make wise selections while performing this volunteer activity. For instance, I was able to provide guidance to Olivia,a teenage girl, who desired to stop attending school because she believed that learning was not for her and that she was too old to receive a basic education certificate. She returned to school and finished her foundational coursework. These expriences have helped me develop strong empathy, organisational and collaborative skills.

| I have been caring for an elderly lady who suffers with vascular dementia for the past 3 years after being made redundant from office work. I have definitely found my calling and love all aspects of the job which includes personal care, domestic housekeeping,accompanying on appointments, days out ,rotas , staff management, shopping and helping make my clients fulfil an independent and happy life.
