I have an approach which is suited to each pupils needs and abilities, I typically start by having the pupil sit a test so I am able to assess his/her weaknesses and strengths, this allows us both to make a list of subjects that we will need to cover to ensure they are confident with any type of question they may face in standardized examinations. I always encourage pupils to bring any homework or classwork which they may be struggling with so we are able to work through it together and build there confidence and knowledge. I believe all pupils can excel in mathematics but require a teacher which is enthusiastic and willing to work at a pace that they are comfortable with
