Due to my academic excellence, I was employed as a supervisor of first-year mathematicians. The main responsibility of a supervisor is to act as the main source of teaching and explain the content covered in lectures. This role required me to mark the student’s assignments and then twice a week I scheduled supervisions. In the supervisions, I gave feedback on past assignments, offering clarity where needed, and I taught students on topics they are covering in lectures and that were due to be covered in the following assignments. This allowed me to improve my communication skills as I must explain complex ideas clearly and concisely. I was supervising students with a variety of personalities and backgrounds, therefore I had to tailor my communication style to each student.
