Hello, my name is Shimin and I am currently a third year medical student. Previously, I completed an MSci in Chemistry with Pharmacology with a 2:1. I have been tutoring since 2015, mostly in Maths and Sciences, ranging from key stage 2 to sixth form. When tutoring someone new, I like to start off by testing the level that they are currently working at, usually using a past paper. I like to devise a long term plan for the student: the topics they need help with, what they are good at and how they like to learn. Following from that, I like to follow a "see one, do one and teach one" strategy with my teaching, especially when it comes to maths. I will show how to solve a problem; we will then do one together; the student will then do one by themselves and lastly, the student will teach me how to do it. When it comes to Sciences and English, I will follow a similar plan but I will go over the topic and teach them first before going through any questions. However, my teaching style is very flexible and I can tweak it, depending on the student’s needs.
