I have been tutoring friends and family members for the last year. My tutoring method is based on teaching mechanics and purpose: mechanics are the basic facts and principles needed to understand a topic, purpose is the application of these principles. I teach mechanics first, I take care to explain all of the content clearly to help the students understand it. I use PowerPoints, diagrams and flashcards to help make this section easier. Once the content is fully understood, I move on to purpose. I teach purpose by going through past paper questions and using mindmaps to link different topics together. As a tutor, I am happy to go through topics that the student is finding difficult in class, or teach topics before they learn it in their lessons in order to prepare them. I am fully aware of the difficulties that covid has caused to learning, so I will do my best to help make the rest of school easier.
