Hi. My name is Joel and I am a fourth year medical student at Imperial College London. I am originally from Southampton and have recently moved to London. Medicine intrigued me after having a wonderful opportunity to look after my grandmother during the summer holidays after my GCSE's. Through lots of volunteering during the pandemic and being able to shadow a cardiologist, I chose to do medicine. I like to box and play five a side football during my free time as I strongly believe it is important to have a good work life balance. I have always been interested in research and I demonstrated my strong academia skills when completing an EPQ on pharmacogenomics in cystic fibrosis. This helped strengthen my ideas on writing a dissertation and the importance of being able to report about it.
