I have two years of experience working in a supported living service for adults with additional needs and mental health issues. My role involved providing personalised support both at home and in the community, ensuring person-centered care. Responsibilities included administering medication, maintaining accurate records, and adhering to all policies and procedures to safeguard those receiving support. Currently, I provide weekly 1-1 private support for a young adult with complex additional needs, requiring comprehensive assistance with their daily routine. This role includes irregular shifts, encompassing weekly night shifts and occasional day shifts as needed. My duties involve; full support with all aspects of personal care, meal assistance, medication administration, support mobilising, use of individual equipment such as a stair lift and heart monitor. All while respecting and promoting their independence and independent choices. Additionally, I assist them in accessing community services, planning days out, and enhancing their daily life with enriching activities chosen based on her preferences or with her input where possible.
