Qualified Norland Nanny, with BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies. I am a child behavior specialist with over 13 years experience working with children with additional needs. I have worked with children with a range of abilities and needs, primarily providing care in their home but I have also worked in mainstream schools, specialist schools, holiday clubs and nurseries. I have a broad scope of additional training, including de-escalation and physical intervention, managing challenging behavior, communication in sign language, safeguarding and trauma. In my position as a nanny my responsibilities included all things related to the care, wellbeing and education of my charge. I supported the child’s development through activities, classes, and playdates. I supported the child in developing their independence in self-care tasks, such as getting dressed and washing. I also scheduled and attended therapies (OT etc.) and medical appointments including blood tests, vaccinations and dentist. I managed all aspects of their care; signposting to appropriate therapies and assessments, liaising directly with therapists to discuss their needs, supporting the implementation of techniques within the home.
