I worked as a high level teaching assistant, specialising in assessing and supporting communication needs and implementing AAC, at a school for children and young people aged 3- 19 with profound and multiple learning difficulties for 10 years. I have experience in working with children and young people with a wide range of physical and cognitive needs. I am experienced at supporting in hydro therapy/swimming, rebound therapy, physio therapy exercises, chest management and more. I am passionate about removing societal barriers and giving children and young people with complex needs the same opportunities and experiences as any other child. I have also worked as a PA for children and young adults, with PMLD, and their non-disabled siblings, supporting them at home and in the community. I am confident at feeding, changing, using lots of different equipment (chairs, standing frames, walkers, feeding pumps etc). I have also done voluntary work at a youth service for young adults with SLD in Derby, helping to support life skills, creative skills, and trips into the community.
