I am a kind and empathetic person with a passion for supporting children and young people with special educational needs. I have spent the past year working in a secondary SEND school as a Teaching Assistant while pursuing an MSc in Psychology at the University of Exeter. I have valuable experience working with adolescents with a range of special needs. This includes supporting individuals with DLD, ASD, Down’s Syndrome, Dyslexia, ADHD, and Epilepsy. I feel really passionate about supporting positive outcomes for children and adolescents with SEND, as demonstrated by my work and academic background. Through this, I have learned to provide both learning and emotional support to pupils on a 1-to-1 basis. I am skilled in communication and being sensitive to individual SEND needs. I also have a solid foundation in Children and Young People's Mental Health and Developmental Psychology, gained through my MSc and practical work. This includes assignments examining Developmental Language Disorder in a SEND school and working on a assignment using trauma-informed practices for adolescents with anxiety. I am looking to further my experience by working with SEND individuals for my future career in psychology.
