My name is Emma and I am 22 years old. I am a qualified child care practitioner and I am studying to be a teacher this coming September. As of now I currently work in a special needs school in Glasgow ages 5-12, I word with a variety of children who all require different help (ie- mobility, speech, personal care) I absolutely love this job. I also work as a personal assistant with 2 young boys. One is ages 7 and has autism, he has no speech so I use PODD books, Picture Exchange Communication cards (peccs) and sign language. The other boy I work with is 13 and he has cerebral palsy and speech difficulties. With boys boys I do personal care, I take them on outings to the park or to any activities they may go to, I help with homework bedtime routines etc, anything the family want I am happy to do! I have a passion for helping children will addict al need as my younger sister herself has autism and she has really pushed me to want to help as many people I can!
