Currently a SEN Teaching assistant in Hounslow, caring for a small group of primary aged children who have Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other Moderate Learning Disabilities (MLD). Working with the Children at Hounslow Heath Junior School has taught me lots of valuable, fundamental and transferable skills. My main duties include; supporting 2 children with their classwork, helping them to form and maintain social bonds with their peers and other adults, personal care when covering staff absence, maintaining strict COVID-19 regulations and preparation and marking of class/home work. Working with students that have ASD or MLD does not come without its challenges and due to this I have gained the valuable skill of managing students that display challenging or violent behaviour.
