I have spent 2 years working as a Learning Support Assistant in a primary school, providing 1:1 care to children with SEN. I have worked with children with Autism, ASD, GDD, FASD, Downs Syndrome and Visual Impairments. During my time in this job I worked closely with the families of the children and followed EHCP plans to ensure care and support was to the highest standard. I also completed training in safeguarding. Besides supporting children in the classroom, I provided emotional and social support in the playground and assisted at lunchtimes to ensure safe swallowing. I really enjoyed working with these children, and I enjoyed forming professional therapeutic relationships with them and watching them grow in confidence and independence. I also have 3 years worth of experience in providing Nanny care to children aged 3 - 7, roles included: picking them up/taking them to clubs, helping with homework, providing play opportunities, giving them meals and doing bath and bedtime/morning routines. In September I will be starting a postgraduate course in children's nursing.
