I have worked for the charity 'Bury Independent Living Development' for the last 5 years on a part time basis, as a 'Sessional Worker'. I ran the allotment group at Bury ILD for 4 years and currently I take a small group of adults with learning difficulties for meals out, cinema trips, drinks, etc on a Tuesday evening (as well as doing some garden maintenance work for two of the houses owned by Bury ILD where adults with learning disabilities live in managed accomodation. I took early retirement from my main previous career of some 36 years which was as an IT/electronics repair technician/engineer for companies such as ICL in Ashton, Siemens in Oldham and 17 years at the University of Manchester working in IT Services. I have worked my own allotment for 19 years and turned my hobby into a second career whilst semi retired. I don't offer 'personal care' but being a 'care companion' for adults with learning difficulties such as taking them out for shopping or meals, social activities or tutoring them in gardening - growing fruit and vegetables for example as I did on the Bury ILD allotment group. I have a caring attitude and believe in treating people with the same respect that I would wish to treated with.
