I have a BSc in Psychology from the University of Hull, where my dissertation focused largely on autism. I have 2 years experience of working within a learning disabled residential care home as a Therapeutic Residential Care Worker and Team Leader. I consider myself fortunate to use my knowledge supporting children with diagnoses of; Global-Development-Delay, ASD, ADHD, DiGeorge Syndrome, Selective Mutism, PICA and Epilepsy. My current role involves looking after some of the most vulnerable children within our society and I strive to deliver the best care possible to each of them. I have received a wealth of training to support the young people I care for. I love helping children develop and ensuring that they reach their full potential by employing a PACE approach when I work.
I work well in challenging situations and handle emergencies well. I use dynamic risk assessments to minimise the risk to children. In the event of an emergency I follow procedure to the letter from administering first aid, to contacting 111 or 999 where necessary.
I enjoy physical activities like playing football, swimming, walking my dogs and cycling, as well as less strenuous things such as playing scrabble, gaming, puzzles or a crossword.
