I have always been involved with special needs children from the age of 3. I have carried out work experience in a school where I not only helped pupils with their learning but also programmed their communication aids. I have worked in several special needs play-schemes during the summer holidays, helping a vast range of pupils with all different kinds of disabilities and medical needs. I have worked as a carer for disabled young adults. This has involved assisting with their personal care, physical management programmes, social activities and any other activities they have directed me to do. I have also worked as a Learning Support Assistant at a School. This involved care for students, scribing, exercise programmes, updating communication books, programming and updating pupils communication aids, accompanying pupils on school trips. I also worked with the PE department helping out with Boccie and Athletics both in and out of school. I also carried out standing programmes and general work in the classrooms as and when needed. I have taught a special needs swimming squad and taken main stream swimming lessons for 5 years.
