I started volunteering at various animal shelters 6 years ago. During my time at the shelters, I was responsible for caring for the various animals by feeding, grooming, walking and adminstering medicine (orally) to the rescues. Additionally, I was trained in dog training and socialisation of rescues 2 years ago by the senior staff. My primary interest and responsibility was caring for elderly and disabled pets as they require more attention and get passed by often. I also used to work at a pet centre, which allowed me to gain insight into the various types and brands of foods, toys, grooming products, etc. As part of my job I was expected to know which products are best suited for the various types of pets. I hope to receive more training going forward and continue working with a wider group of animals.
