In terms of skills and experience, I can say that I grew up with cats and dogs and recently (almost 5 years ago) I started taking care of birds too (mostly parakeets and parrotlets). I was the one in charge to take care of each animal (food, baths, vitamins/medication if needed) and, of course, there's place for more.
