I’ve been home-sitting and dog/cat sitting for about 7 years now, alongside work (originally as a charity director and now as a freelance coach). Imperative I meet and develop a relationship with the pet(s) and the family before considering caring for the pet(s). For me, this is like any other relationship, there needs to be a real connection with me and the animal, so that they feel they trust me (and the owner also). It started with occasional dog/cat care and has developed from there. I tend to have few clients and keep them for a long period of time, whilst it works for us both.
