I love spending time with people's pets and have pet-sat and house-sat for friends many times before. I've also looked after friends’ cats in my house longer term, giving them as much attention or solitude as they want. Animals warm up to me quickly, even when I've had to give them meds. I’ve given cats meds many times, I've never given an injection to a cat, but I'm more than happy for you to show me how. I'm very good at coaxing out nervous cats. I give them space, letting them sniff my hand and chatting to them but letting them come to me in their own time. A friend’s cat hid behind my desk for the first 2 days, but he quickly became a big cuddle-monster. I have several friends with dogs, and have spent a lot of time with them, including walking them (and picking up after them). I'm happy to give medication to dogs, but would need showing how. I used to own guinea pigs and gave them baths and medication several times. I'm happy to look after other animals, but would want clear instructions to make sure I'm looking after them properly. My cat doesn't get on with other cats so I can’t have your cat or dog staying at my house, but I'm more than happy to come to yours and I'm very respectful of other people's homes.
