Through Covid-19 I became a key worker as a domestic assistant in a care home. Which involved thoroughly vacuuming, mopping, sanitising and tidying all 50 residential rooms, ensuites, shower rooms, lounges, dining rooms, corridors and staff areas. We also completed at least one deep clean daily; which included cleaning windows, polishing furnishings, steaming curtains and using an industrial carpet cleaner. We ideally worked in a team, but due to reduced staff I adapted to working at a fast enough pace to complete all basic tasks independently within the shift. I also took on laundry and kitchen assistant shifts. I always like to be busy and I can always find jobs that need doing on top of my designated tasks, helping any staff or residents whenever I could. I started working at the home part-time and over weekends and holidays alongside my studies, leaving in 2015 and then returning in 2020.
