Hello my name is Millie. My experience began with my nan who had Dementia. I have 5yrs as a Support Assistant. (waking nights shift) prompting medication, assisting with personal care, meal prep and answering to care calls from clients during the night. Day shifts included all of the above as well as laundry (on site) cleaning and shopping. I have previous experience in door to door domiciliary care. I currently work for a local authority in the Adult Social Care Sector as an Assessor - rehabilitation with a holistic approach. I assess clients in the community with various ailments and disabilities to re establish their independence. I recommend and prescribe equipment, signpost to services in the community and liaise on clients behalf with other health professionals. I also set up long term care if needed. My aim is to work closer to home (Purfleet on Thames). I care for a gentleman with MS who lives locally from Friday pm to Saturday am and every other Sunday. This role is more nursing focused tasks like Peg feeding, medication administration, manual handling like hoisting, standing machine assistance and various other breathing/respiratory equipment and hospital visits.
