I started out volunteering housekeeping for and elderly couple in my village when I was 16 as the lady had dementia and this is were I found my love for helping people and the elderly. I completed my level 3 in health and social care and also my a level English language and literature diploma. When I turned 18 I started working in a specialist dementia care home. This helped to teach me around importance of maintaining dignity in care and seeing the person for who they are, their likes and dislikes and adapting to support individuals to help them to achieve their goals and lead a well rounded fulfilled life. I have completed different care courses such as the Eden alternative 3 day course, which taught me so much around the vulnerability of the elderly but also their potential. I did shortly leave the care industry and started working in customer services in a call centre but during this job I found out how much I missed caring for people and how much I would like to do this again.
