Hello, I have been caring for my mother for a couple of years now as she has COPD and struggles with most daily tasks in and around the home. I help her with all areas of housework and garden maintenance, cleaning, food prep and cooking, organisation and errands, shopping, personal care and companionship. Although I have no qualifications from any organisation or company I do have “on the job” experience. Although the situation with my mum has been tinged with sadness as she has found it difficult to adjust to requiring help in activities lots of people take for granted, its also been rewarding as I’ve had the opportunity to spend more time with her and the old adage of “helping others helps you” really is true because it does feel good to know you’ve made someone else feel assured or comforted with simple actions.
