As a previous healthcare assistant, I am able to perform regular medical observations and assisting with daily activities like bathing, dressing, eating and laying their beds. I am able to work efficiently without supervision. I am aware of my scope of practice and able to escalate issues out of my range of practice. I can work as part of an effective team and incorporate my IT skills. I comply with hospital rules on infection control and ensure barriers provided are used. I am aware of manual handling principles and able to use transferring equipment safely and correctly. I am able to prioritise and manage my time effectively even when dealing with unexpected occurrences. I have worked with Falls and dementia patients as well as working with bariatric and stroke patients, I have also worked with patients who are visually impaired, amputees, confused and the elderly and frail, I am confident in working with a variety of patient groups. I understand baselines and the importance of therapists aiming to get a patient to their baseline before leaving hospitals and referrals that could be put in place if the baseline is not met.
