I have been working in London as a carer for two years. I'm a strong young man with a passion to help others and I find care work for older people to be a privilege. Examples of the sort of clients I have helped: 1) an 80 year old gentleman with a degenerative neurological condition and dementia - for him I do personal care, including showering and dressing, pressure sore relief by getting him to stand on a standing aid for a period of time. I chat to him and make him feel included and I hope more content with life, 2) a 74 year old gentleman with a learning disability who has no family. I clean his home, do his shopping and prepare foods for him. Also, I walk outside with him, accompanying him to shops and church. Again, I chat to him and aim to make him feel that he is not alone in the world.
