Hi, my name is Jess - a bubbly 27 year old from Wakefield. Since starting working in a care home during the pandemic, I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the elderly, finding it rewarding and feeling like I have made a real difference to people's lives. During my time working in the care home, I volunteered for additional training to meet a variety of needs including dementia, stroke and mobility changes, chronic illness and palliative care. Since moving to Huddersfield, I have started working in the community and have found this to be a real joy - helping people maintain their independence, their social needs and their personal care from the comfort of their own home. The only downside I feel about community run care is the tight schedule we run to, and as a result, I have decided to manage my workload myself in order for people to receive the care they deserve and want - a more reliable service that is catered to them, with more time for companionship and fun!
