Cared for my mum(dementia/delusions/hallucinations) single handed for 4 years. Mum lived an independent life. I gave her space to be herself. One of her last remaining freedoms. Making sure everything was where she could find it. A constant game! Always checking after her without being a prison guard. Taps turned off. No water on floor. Toilet bathroom & kitchen in particular clean. Cupboards closed & things put away. Be a friend or leave alone - judge what's wanted in the moment. Be a part of her fantasy stories. Always had a cup of weak tea on her table (3 litres average per day). Meds & vitamins mixed with freshly made home cooked food made from natural healthy ingredients. No tins or packets. I can tailor food to any palate. I'm a French trained chef. (Previously cooked in care home) Help dress, toilet, wash, go out if req'd. Pamper if wanted. Constantly checking on safety. Shopping. Errands. Docs appts. Getting up & bedtime when she wanted. Encouraged on occasions! Full driving license. Reference. Mum's now in Portugal with my sister. Poperty maintenance
