My name is Helen and I am 29 years old (only for a few more weeks!). I live and work in Farnham at a residential care home specialising in dementia. I enjoy anything trivia, from pub quizzes to crosswords to The Chase to trivial pursuit. I also have a big passion for music, especially 60s/70s folk and rock. I began my journey into care as a teenager assisting my father. I then studied health and social care at college and found it fascinating. I also studied social sciences briefly however I was eager to enter the workforce. I was terrified starting as a carer but immediately loved it and that passion has only grown. Its incredibly rewarding to know you've made even a tiny difference to somebody's day. I pride myself in being able to put others at ease. I have been told I have a friendly, warm and reassuring manner. My goal as a carer is not just to keep an individual well looked after but to bring joy into their life as much as I can. I have worked in care for 8 years and have covered many roles. From carer to cleaner to cook to activity coordinator to manager and occasionally handyman. I certainly don't mind getting stuck in!
