My first experience as a caregiver was for my grand mum who was bedridden. My grand dad was her only support, as her only son , my dad, was away from home. I had recently moved to the area, and it quickly became apparent how difficult it was for them both. To allow him some free time, I decided to sit with her during her lunch hour. I would arrive around 8:30 and prepare her food (she ate the same thing every day), clean the house, give her her pills, sit with her and watch the glamour girls, her favorite movie. She’d laugh and laugh and even forget that she was sick.
