I have been working in the care profession for a number of years. I have worked with the elderly, involving assisting with all aspects of personal care, basic skin care and basic dressings. I have clients who have Parkinsons, Dementia and general age related issues. I feel very lucky to have my job as I get to meet great people and I feel that I can make a difference to people's lives, particularly by enabling them to remain the their own homes. I undertake my tasks in the course of the day, from personal care, gardening, shopping and some animal care. I also feel that for clients living on their own that social contact is very important. Having a nice chat over a cup of tea is as important as the other tasks I do. I also have experience of working with young people with a disability, particularly those with a visual impairment and learning difficulties. I would like to do so again if the opportunity arose.
