I've have been a private carer for 15 years .it started when my father had dementia and I cared for him .my mother was ill with heart& kidney failure also .when my parents died I then spent 10 hours a day for 5 years caring for a lady who had dementia ,who couldn't feed or dress herself ,had to be hoisted.was incontinent and was pretty much reliant on myself and another carer .my client died in January. I'm currently looking after a gentleman with with dementia .who is capable of doing some things for himself but needs prompting but would like to do more to help others
