During my undergraduate I took on a variety of placements working with children of all ages and abilities, including working in a nursery, a primary school and a pupil referral unit for adolescents. I am starting my masters at Kings College London in September and am looking for work in the area of childcare, an area that I very much enjoy and where I have much experience. I have now worked as a Residential Social Worker in a Children's Home for three years. I was promoted within 8 months and now line manage and supervise other staff. I work with young people aged 14-18yrs, who live with mental health issues and emotional and behavioural problems. Via this job I have trained in level 2 first aid, fire safety and general health and safety, as well as Level 3 food safety. I am also trained in handling medication and safeguarding children. I have also worked in Sri Lanka, with the National Institute for Mental Health. The wards I worked on included acute, forensic, geriatric and occupational health. I also took part in many different placements with young people of all ages and needs. This included designing and implementing lessons for special educational need children and teaching in classes of over one hundred pupils.
